The place of death affects the burial place of the deceased. For those who have died in hospitalPlace of burialPeople
who have died in hospital are buried in the area of their last place of
residence as it appears in the Population Registry. However, if there
is no cemetery there that suits the deceased's affiliation (civil
burial, Islamic, Christian, etc.), he/she may be buried in the area of
the hospital. In a case where the deceased stayed in a psychiatric
or geriatric hospital, institute for the chronically ill or mentally
disabled, and his/her address was changed to that of the institution in
which he/she was hospitalized, the family has the right to choose
between burying the deceased in his/her previous place of residence or
in the area of the hospital. They have the right to make this choice
provided that no more than seven years have passed from the date of the
deceased's change of address to the institute in which he/she was
hospitalized. The family must provide the
burial society with a certificate from the hospital attesting to the
deceased's length of hospitalization. It
should be clarified that the possibility of burying the deceased in his
last place of residence does not exist for those who were in old-age
homes, or long-term care departments of old age homes. | |
